What’s your neighborhood Walk Score???

Recently found this interesting gadget/program and thought I would share it.  WalkScore is a neighborhood ranking system that actually RANKS your neighborhood walkability.

“How it Works”

Walk Score™ uses a patent-pending system to calculate the walkability of an address based on:

  • The distance to walkable locations near an address.
  • Calculating a score for each of these locations.
  • Combining these scores into one easy to read Walk Score.

Your Walk Score may change as our data sources are updated or as we improve our algorithm.

It’s a neat little piece that looks non-realtor branded (at the moment) and is a little more interactive than the typical Google Map or Mapquest.  You can search for properties and send the actual URL’s to your client as well.  Check it out at www.walkscore.com

My walk score is 45… I was rather upset with it. And I was surprised to know that there is another score called drive score to evaluate my house. I found the way to calculate it online at Fizber site (http://drivescore.fizber.com/ ). I’ve got much better results – 83.

About

Matthew Dollinger I would like to consider myself a real estate martyr, but I think that's a little drastic.

How I would like to position myself in the industry is somewhat of a "conduit" between agents/brokers and those continually innovating tomorrow's real estate model. I believe that Real Estate needs to ditch the mentality that it's "more than a business" and truly look to innovative companies, (regardless of industry), and learn from them. It's how we will grow and succeed in this marketplace.

I am constantly looking for new partners that share a passion for learning, innovating and implementing ideas. If you have a thought, idea, or would like to share, simply reach out to me.
